+ Installing Majyk Empires, The Unregistered Version +
Installing Majyk Empires is very simple. Decompress all of the
files into the same directory. The files which should be
included in the archive are listed below.

REGISTER - Registration form
You, the system operator, will also need to create a DOOR.CFG
file in the same directory as game files. The DOOR.CFG tells
Majyk Empires about your BBS setup.
Line 1 - Door file type
Line 2 - Door file path
Line 3 - Sysop Name
Line 4 - BBS Name
Line 5 - Locked Baud Rate
The door file type is specified in line 1 and can be PCB (PCBoard),
GAP (GAPs DOOR.SYS), SF (Spitfire), RBBS, WC for WildCat, TRIBBS,
or WWIV.
The locked baud rate is specified in line 5. If the sysop doesn't
lock his serial port, he must specify 0 for the locked baud rate.
The following is a sample door configuration file:

Majyk Empires can also be run locally without a door data file by
specifying /L after the configuration file parameter in the DOS
command line. The local user will be prompted to enter his name.
Nonstandard IRQs can be used with Majyk Empires by specifying the
IRQ number after the "config" parameter in the command line.
Lastly, Majyk Empires will automatically detect whether RipTerm or
Ansi is available, ignoring the values passed by the door config
file.
Once the config file is set up, the door is executed with the DOS
command : MAJYK DOOR.CFG, this will usually be placed in a batch
file such as the following.

MAJYK.EXE DOOR.CFG
CD C:\BBS
The door will initialize itself when the first player successfully
logs in. This will automatically create a GAMEDAT.MAP file. Deleting
this file will reset the game.
You will notice two things about this release. First, this is an
unregistered version of the program, which means that several things
have been outright disabled. Second, that this is a beta-testing
version. If you encounter any bugs in this program, please report
them back to CIOE InfOrder. We can only direct-send updates to
registered version.
+ The RIP Icon Files
For RIP players, a set of Icon Files must be provided for download.
These Icons are the unit displays on the map field. The map will be
unreadable without them. (The instructions for RIP players provde a
test for these Icon files.)
Please place the included MEICONS.ZIP file available for public
download.
+ Turns +
The game is played in a series of turns. Each player may have up
to three of these turns per day.
The turn consists of moving each army unit, and then by using
majyk of changing city production. These selections are offered
in the displayed menus, so there is no question as to which orders
are available.
The move-phase consists of moving your units across the playing
field, conquering territory, and building cities. All of these
actions, and their effects, are explained below.
The post-move phase gives players the options of casting spells
and changing production.
+ Sciences +
The main key to victoy comes in the form of sciences. Each science
will improve the quality of your military units, and the lifestyles
of your people.
Social - This science is the science of people and their environment.
In game play, your social science will determine how likely
plagues, revolts, and even usurptions are to occur.
Military - This directly controls the types of standard armies which
you may have. The higher your rank in Military Science, the more
types of more powerful armies you may build. Unit types are explained
below.
Majyk - Majyk allows two things. First, majyk allows for the creation
of majykal units, such as wolfriders or drakes. It also allows for
the use of spells. Lastly, majyk will also increase the size of the
magical pool created within keeps.
Sciences are improved in cities by selecting the Develop Sciences
option. Resources of that city will go into the sciences instead of
the creation of units.

+ Builds +
Settlements - Settlers can simply settle into their own new town. To
accomplish this, simply press 'B' for build when moving a settler.
A new settlement will be formed, and a menu will scroll asking you
what to build in this new land.
You may also increase the population of an area by 50 by 'B'uilding
on to it. In this case, you will not be asked what to build, but the
new arrivals will aid the natives in construction.
Mills - Mills will add to the production of neighboring towns, and
also add some population to the towns as well. Mills do not, however,
increase in population, nor do they keep resources for their own.
Keeps - Keeps directly contribute to a player's magic pool. How much
is determined by the Magical Science rating of the player. Keeps
do not, however, increase in population and develop no resources
of their own.
+ Attacking +
An attack is made when one unit moves into a square occupied by the
enemy. Cubes are rolled to determine the victor of the attack.
The attacker will use his ATK rating, which determines how many
cubes he may roll for his attack. This roll must be greater than the
defender's roll for the attack to be successful.
The defender uses his DEF rating, which also determines how many
cubes he may roll for his attack. This roll must be equal to or
greater than the attacker for a successful defense.
Defender wins all ties.
Whichever army rolls highest survives ands holds the square. Lastly,
attacking will exhaust all the attacker's remaining moves.
Example Attack
Red's Drake has moved into a square occupied by Blue's Wolfrider. This
is an attack and is handled as follows:
RED DRAKE - ATK 2d6
The Red Drake rolls a two and a three, getting a five total for his
two cubes.
BLUE WOLFRIDER - DEF 1d6
The Blue Wolfrider only rolls one die, getting a six.
Since the wolfrider rolled higher than the drake, the wolfrider wins
and the drake dies.
Ranged Attack
Ranged attacks are similar to normal attacks, only the attacker
can attack an enemy unit a few squares away. To accomplish this,
the attacker, when asked to move, presses the [F] key.
The computer will then ask the attacker for a target square. The
attacker then selects his target by moving the highlighter and then
pressing [SPACE].
A ranged attack is only worth a 1d6 ATK rating, regardless of the unit
attacking, and count as one MOV.
+ Victory +
Victory comes when either only one amry is left on the board, or when
an opponent resigns. The victor is the surviving army.
+ Registration Bonuses +
Registration of Majyk Empires costs only $25.00 (before shipping
costs) yet opens up a brave new world of gaming possibilities.
Unlocks Science Levels - Players can attain new heights of technology,
adding Catapaults, Archers, Ballista, Greek
Fire, Ships and Galleons to their forces.
Cities can also grow larger.
Unlocks Majykal Units - Players can now add Wolfriders, Ogres,
Giants, Griffs, and Drakes to their
armies.
Unlocks Magical Spells - Players can now cast spells at one-another,
including blessing, cursing, plagues, and
other warmongering majyks.
Newest Versions - Registered users will recieve any updates
for Majyk Empires absolutely free!
